Dad-bonding 101!

Spoil you kids, bond with parents, bonding, relationships with dat

Ah, dads… They come in all shapes and sizes, can be strict or fun, cool or a little bit lame… But we love them anyway. Need some quality time with Dad? Bring him to Timezone! Here’s why…

Forever young

Your dad (or granddad) might SEEM all grown up and responsible – but deep in their hearts they’re still the young boys who loved saving up coins to tackle the Pac Man machine or one of those antique Pinball rattletraps… They’re just looking for an excuse to forget about serious work stuff and to have some fun. And if it’s fun with people they love, so much the better! There’s a bonus side to their superior skills and experience, too: they know loads of tips and tricks to get the best out of every machine. As one Timezone fan tells us about her granddad: “He’s really good at the games! He’ll win the jackpot and then come to us with all these tickets… It’s great!”

No words needed

Some dads aren’t great at verbal communication – that’s when teaming up to take on the Walking Dead zombies (or any game that needs a bit of teamwork!) can bring you closer together. There’s nothing quite like shooting your way to survival and then coming down from the adrenaline rush to strengthen your bond. All it takes is a look, a smile, and maybe a “That’ll do, Dad. That’ll do.” Then treat him to an ice cream.

Grounds for negotiation

Do you need permission to go to that friend’s pool party? Test your negotiation skills by challenging your dad to a game of air hockey, or even a proper dance off! The catch is that you’ll have to win, of course… But sometimes, dads can be real softies – and that might actually work in your favour. “My dad’s very good,” laughs one Timezone fan. “He keeps on saying “I’m gonna beat you!’ But I can tell he’s trying to let me win… Because he’s my Dad! It’s always really fun.”

 Fertile dad-joke territory

Love them or hate them, dads tell the best lame jokes – and bringing them to Timezone gives them loads of fertile material to work with AND a good reason to laugh! These are only some of the dad jokes we’re convinced had their origins in a games arcade…
Soccer Tabletop: “I don’t play soccer because I enjoy the sport. I’m just doing it for kicks.”
Ghost Busters: “Why don’t skeletons ever go trick or treating? Because they have no body to go with.”
Daytona: “Why couldn’t the bike stand up by itself? It was two tired.”
Walking Dead: “What does a vegetarian zombie eat? GRRRAAAAAIIIINNNNS!”
Dance Dance Revolution: “How do you make a Kleenex dance? Put a little boogie in it!”
Karaoke Booth: Dad, to singer: “Don’t forget a bucket.” Singer: “Why?” Dad: “To carry your tune.”
